A few weeks ago, the folks based in San Francisco have come up with a nice new approach: “Slideshare Business”. It’s a cool new way to use the application for lead generation purposes.

The service comes in two different versions:

Adshare

Your presentations are displayed contextually to around 20 million monthly visitors that are already viewing something similar. It works on a CPC (Cost-Per-Click) basis.
For those that are not familiar with the model, it means that you only pay when someone clicks on your document/presentation. CPC costs start at USD 0.25 cents.

Slideshare are not reinventing the wheel here since this would be almost the same as the Google Adwords model.
The campaign dashboard and insights look pretty neat, however it is lacking a call to action at the end. In other words, by clicking on the “sponsored document” (right hand column), you are taken to the landing page of the selected document, however I was scratching my head going…”and now, what’s next?” I couldn’t find any special button or call to action that would encourage me to do something or learn more about a company, their products or services.

Leadshare

I love this one! With this option you can capture leads within your content on the first, third or last slide of your presentation. The lead forms appears inside the player, on the sidebar of the player and in the downloadable version!
When the person viewing the slide show is interested in your presentation (company, product, service, etc), he/she fills out the contact info on the lead-slide and sends it to you  You only pay for what you receive! Leadshare starts at 1 dollar per lead.
