The Irish Internet Association congress summary
The IIA annual Congress took place last Thursday at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Santry. The title this year was: “Better Business Online in a Tough Economy: Money, Marketing, Monitoring & Mobile”.
It was a great event, well organised, with loads of very knowledgeable people to network with and fantastic speakers…
Irish companies and the acknowledgement of Social Media
We attended the SFA event at the new Eircom building yesterday where Piaras Kelly and Colin Hetherington gave a presentation on Digital Marketing. Good content and advice for companies on how to get started with online social networks, blogging and some other cool examples.
Here’s the thing, I saw plenty of jaw-drops within the audience when some basic things were discussed. As Evert Bopp wrote recently: “Think that a blog is a character from Star Trek?”
Here are a couple of videos with the speakers’ advise on how to get ready before approaching a digital marketing agency and whether outsorucing your social media efforts is viable or not…
A perfect night for creative people
Last Tuesday Channelship went back to D-Light studios to enjoy one of the most creative get-togethers in Dublin: PLAYGROUP
We all had a “d-lightful” night with photographers, writers, journalists, designers, developers, artists and film makers.
The fun consisted on some mad photo shoots (that were later presented through a slideshow on a big screen), a cool band, a DJ, a LEGO table (yes!) and good interaction.
What happened today at Google Ireland?
I am just back from the Google European headquarters in Dublin where I attended the “Google Advertiser half day programme” and I have great info to share with you.
The event was kindly organised by The SFA and the Google Learning & Development Team.
Very interesting morning with different presenters (Googlers): Gail, Claire, Karen, Anne Marie, Marius and a special (semi-private) AdWords session with Aisling from the B2B AdWords team.
Are Irish SMEs using social networking tools?
Last Tuesday we had a great night at the LINK! Network, at the O’Callaghan Mont Clare Hotel. The subject was “Marketing on a shoe string budget” and the speaker, Krishna De from www.bizgrowthnews.com
Loads of practival tips for SME’s to leverage their power and effectiveness by thinking outside the box, inplementing online tools and complementing offline efforts without any budget!
Go video! …and make a difference
Hi all,
As you know, Channelship chooses video as one of the main ways of communication.
Every month we test new video platforms to discover new value and better ways to communicate with our audience.
Today is animoto.com’s turn.
This is a perfect tool to create professional music videos. It’s very user-friendly and so intersting that you could spend hours creating stuff and posting it to different social media sites.
In this case I used the free version, however, for a few quid you can include your company’s logo and even implement a call to action!
I have re-cycled a couple of Slide Share presentations. It literally took me 5 minutes to make these two videos
Hope you enjoy them!
Bizcamp Dublin: Great success
Hi all,
This time, networking fell on a Saturday. I was really looking forward to Bizcamp not only because of the speakers but also to finally meet and interact with many people that I network online.
Bizcamp Dublin was a great success. The event was very organised, the venue perfect for the occasion and the presentations covered key points to develop a strong business.
I had the pleasure to meet David Behan, Jason Roe, Keith Shirley, Andrew Tobin, Aedan Ryan and Campbell Scott (Video below)…
121 Marketing. “First Wednesday” business event
Last Wednesday was networking night again and the Channelship team landed at The Mint Bar (Westin Hotel) for the 121 Marketing event, “First Wednesday”, lead by Karina Heavey.
It was our first time joining this grup “offline” and I have to say: we enjoyed it!
One of the most important things is that 90% all all the faces were new! That’s a fantastic way to meet more people and refresh the agenda.
We realised that by networking at traditional business networks like Dublin Chamber, SFA, etc, you get to see the same people too often, which is good to build long-term relationships, however Wednesday night, was great for a change
This network has been growing consistently and it’s not just for “Marketing professionals” as you may think. You will find a nice mix of people. We encourage absolutely anybody to join and explore opportunities within this networking group.
Trading in a slow-down
Yesterday was networking night. Channelship was at the monthly LINK! event at the O’Callaghan Mount Clare Hotel lead by Miriam Ahern.
I must say we had a FULL house, loads of business people attended the event: a very healthy a great thing to see in these times.
The guest speaker was Ken Germaine, CEO of BASE Enterprise Centre and the topic was “Trading in a slow-down”.
Connector event number 7
We dropped by the Connector event at 4 Dame Lane, the subject was Digital Video. Connector’s network has grown a lot since last year when we first met Conor. Well done!
