This week I received my brand new Amazon Kindle 3 in the post (affiliate link). I’d been looking forward to it for a while (pre-ordered it some weeks ago). These guys know how to market it. I am starting to understand how Apple fans feel about their computers or phones because I’m in a similar situation with this new gadget.
I used to be against ebook readers, nobody could separate me from my beloved books, however, here I am writing this post
While I’ll continue buying regular books, I’d like to share briefly what the Kindle means for a person like me:
- Staying away from the bright computer screen (and from work), while still having access to a basic browser.
- Reconnecting with literature easily due to price but most importantly due to availability (that “one click purchase” is just addictive).
- Giving new authors and classics a chance. It’s just easier to try them out, or at least it feels like, so it works for me.
- Saving a lot of space: When I first moved to Ireland I carried more than 30 kilos of books (back then Airlines didn’t charge excess weight if you arrived early enough to the check in desk with a smile).
Yes, there are cons too, but I’d say mainly technical, so I want to show them to you in a quick video. Oh, I’ve also downloaded their Android app but my library doesn’t seem to sync well in my old G1.
